The History of Lamborghini

The company started as a tractor manufacturer and according to legend originated in a dispute between Ferruccio Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari a 250 GT, which has become the world famous brand which stands for extravagance, strength, speed and passion. Models such as Diablo and Gallardo broke the records in performance and made a fascinating history for the fans in automotive industry. We as Motion Drive Sports car rental would like to share that fascinating  history with you.
Driving the Lamborghini is only for the sports car enthusiasts because it is one of the most exciting experiences which can be compared with handful of vehicles.


Lamborghini Diablo – The Devil

The Lamborghini Diablo was built during 1990 to 2001 and it was the fastest car produced  in world during this period. This car was built under the direction of Chrysler and it reached the diabolical Lambo which drives 320 km/hr, it is powered by a 5.7-liter V12 with 492 horsepower, it was the one and only supercar with rear-wheel drive. From 1993, the Diablo VT was introduced with all-wheel drive.
It was followed by several special editions like Diablo SE 30, which experienced an increase in output from 525 hp to 595 hp with the famous Jota kit. In the year 1995 Lamborghini typical SV appeared (Super Veloce) version.
During the year 1999 the comprehensive facelift version of Diablo was introduced. The flap headlights were swapped with fixed headlights from the Nissan 300ZX. If you remove the upper bezel away from the black lights, you can read the Nissan logo. In addition, an ABS braking system has been installed to the 530 hp engine to bring the car under control during high speeds.
During this year the  Diablo GT and Diablo GT-R models were also launched.

The GT-R version has been upgraded  further and weight has been reduced while comparing  the GT version, with a 595 horsepower 6-liter V12 engine. Total of 40 cars were made in the GT 80 and the GT-R versions.
The latest development of Diablo was made in 2001 and it was renamed as Diablo VT 6.0. The striking rear spoiler is now only an option, the front and rear sections are again modified and the interior gets a further revision.


Lamborghini Murcielago - The fame

The Murciélago, freely translated bat, is the successor to the Diablo, which has now been produced under the direction of Audi in the Lamborghini facilities in Sant'Agata Bolognese. From the year 2001 to 2010, 4099 Copies of this Italian extravaganza were manufactured. Typical design elements are the V12 motors provided with Lamborghini scissor doors and large extendable ventilators  for the  engine to cool down.

The Murciélago has a 6.2 liter V12 engine with 580 hp, all-wheel drive which catapulted the 1665 Kg body in 3,8 seconds to 100 km / h. Top speed 330 km / h.
Murciélago was spared and used as a breeding bull. This strain can be found today in the Spanish bullfight. Likewise, company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini is said to have based on the brave bull by the company logo. Thus we find today on any model produced the image of Murciélago.

Lamborghini Gallardo - The Successful

The name Gallardo goes back to the breeders of fighting bulls Francis Gallardo. According to him, one of the 5 skin breeds named (Cabrera, Miura, Navarra, Vazquena, Gallardo). Throughout the production period 2003-2013 14022 cars were manufactured, which is why the Gallardo is considered the most commercially successful and it costs 160,000€ as cheapest Lamborghini.
The Gallardo was delivered as a 5 liter V10 with 500 hp, powered by a -heavy all-wheel drive. The aluminum body is manufactured by Thyssen Krupp in Heilbronn, painted in the city Neckarsulm and mounted in Sant'Agata. During the year 2005 the 520 hp Spyder was launched and  followed by 2007  the Gallardo Superleggera, which was upgraded  to 530 hp and weight-reduced by CFK shoring variant.

In the year 2008 the major facelift version was introduced. The Gallardo LP 560-4 gets a 5.2-liter V10 engine based on the Audi R8. For the first time in a Lamborghini direct injection is installed. The facelift model approaches at 325 km / h top speed. Optical changes were bit much at the Gallardo. Front and rear aprons get a more aggressive look. The far beyond the hood drawn headlights are truncated. Air intakes of the engine hood can be optionally replaced by a glass roof, which means the engine is visible. In addition, the LP 560-4 has now 2 exhaust pipes per side.

As usual, the Spyder followed a year later. Also in 2009, the LP 570-4 Superleggera and LP550-2 remains as obtainable as Coupé and Cabriolet with  rear-wheel drive version.

2012 the Gallardo gets another facelift, but comes only with slight visual changes.

Lamborghini Aventador - The light heavyweight
Aventador roughly translated means "someone kick your ass", but it was named after the famous fighting bull from the year 1993. This was characterized by his bravery and especially by its very low fighting weight, which was just above the minimum weight.

Lamborghini Huracan - The Snappy
Huracan was a fighting bull breed of "Conte de la Patilla", who won the audience by his fiery and challenging way for itself during the year 1879 in Alicante. The direct successor of the Gallardo boasts a sharp and combative appearance. The design looks at first glance like an inconspicuous version of the Big Brother model Aventador, however, does not need to hide behind this.

The LP 610-4 starts with a 5.2-liter V10 with 610 hp. The top speed of this car is 325 km / h and with help of four-wheel drive as well as Lamborghini’s own dual clutch transmission LDF has a fantastic Italian artwork in 3.2 seconds to 100 km / h. The Huracán is first production car in the world, equipped with an inertial navigation system, in which the forces and accelerations are perceived by various sensors and from it regardless of location signals determines the geographic location. It has a 12.3 inch TFT display, which is designed for Huracan, which was also installed in the new Audi TT.
